07.05.2013 - ONLY DAYS TO GO TO CELEBR8.2
Celebr8.2 is almost upon us, featuring a veritable feast of PROG related music and bands including Stu and Dean who will be playing a not necessarily acoustic 'Galahad stripped' set as well as Mark who will be playing a short acoustic set accompanied by Dean. Other bands playing include Threshold, Karl Groom's band, Frost, Arena, District 97, IO Earth, Mystery, Haken, Harvest and the debut of Alan Reed's new live band. Should be a blast!
17.04.2013 - GALAHAD RECORD STORE DAY SHOW
As some of you may or may not know, Saturday 20th April is National Record Store Day, which celebrates our vinyl heritage and Independent Records emporiums. Thus, GALAHAD, in the guise of Stu and Dean will be performing a ‘stripped’ set at local independent Record Shop ‘Rose Red Records’, which is situated in Boscombe Arcade, next to the O2 Academy, at approximately 2.30pm.
There will also a couple of other bands performing sets during the afternoon, The Douglas Firs and With A Love Like OursIt should be a fun day with lots of unusual and rare vinyl items for sale plus a few bits and pieces from ourselves, some of which will be ‘freebies. I hear there maybe even be refreshments available too! So if you are in the locality and fancy popping down to watch and say hello we’d love to see you.
01.03.2013 ONE FOR THE RECORD: PRE-ORDER AVAILABLE
'One for the Record' the shiny new official GALAHAD biography is now available to pre-order from our merchandise page.
Written by Andrew Wild, whose previous work includes ‘Play On’, the authorised biography of Twelfth Night, ‘One for the Record’ is a story of one band’s refusal to lie down and be ignored by an indifferent industry.
‘One for the Record’, the official, authorised biography of Galahad, charts the first quarter century of the Dorset-based band’s existence: the highs and the lows, the challenges and the achievements, the numerous line-up changes (Yes have nothing on Galahad!) including six keyboard players and eight bassists, the occasional madness on the road, the writing, recording, rehearsing and gigging.
Andrew Wild has extensively interviewed the current members of the band, as well as eleven past members and many friends, associates and supporters and provides a detailed book that will delight fans.
The book includes a complete discography, timeline, a full list of Galahad gigs and many colour and black and white photographs.
This publication also comes with a companion DVD video archive containing rare and previously unseen live and studio footage of the band from 1986 to 2010.
25.2.2013 - POLISH DATES & GALAHAD STRIPPED
GALAHAD are proud to announce that they will be, once again, visiting Poland and playing 3 dates in the Autumn of 2013 in conjunction with Oskar Promotions, one of which will be recorded for a live CD/DVD release:
Andaluzja - Piekary Slaskie, Poland - Thursday 24 October 2013
Klub Progresja –Warszawa, Poland - Friday 25 October 2013
Oskard, Konin, Poland - Saturday 26 October 2013
The band are really looking forward to visiting Poland again, as the Polish audiences are always very welcoming, warm and enthusiastic! :-) Special guests for all three shows will be up and coming Polish band Lilith with whom Galahad have played before.
Stu and Dean will also be playing a 'Galahad stripped' set at Celebr8.2 at the Hippodrome, Kingston-Upon-Thames either on the 11th or 12th May. It will not necessarily be acoustic but it will be a little different and, hopefully, good fun! Other band members may make an appearance! :-)
25.01.2013 - FREE 'GEC' ALBUM DOWNLOAD
Galahad would like to welcome everyone to 2013 by offering a FREE DOWNLOAD of their 1999 re-mix album ‘De-Constructing Ghosts’! Of course you can contribute something if you wish ;-)…
Check the download or merchandise page on the Galahad website where all will become clear.
“Probably the most radical release in the Galahad canon. Consisting of remixes from original vocal, guitar, keyboard and woodwind tracks taken from the Following Ghosts master tapes and used to 'build' completely new pieces of music. Although not a dance re-mix album as such, there are a lot of breakbeat/house style beats along with more ethnic/eastern influences which Galahad has dabbled with over the years. On reflection, although it was an unusual experiment, especially for the time, which didn't always work as a whole, there are still some very interesting and creative moments on the album, which still sound fresh and contemporary after all these years later, proving conclusively that Galahad have never been just another, so called, ‘Neo-Prog band’!”
GALAHAD AT THE BBC - FRIDAY ROCK SHOW 1991
A special treat for those who are interested in our somewhat chequered history. We have uploaded the Radio 1 session and subsequent, remarkably insightful, interview involving Stu, Roy, Tim and Tommy Vance from September 1991. See the 'Free downloads & streaming' page for more info. A fascinating moment in time for the band, we think.:-)
