GALAHAD Tour Diary Up and Running!
The first installment of Dean's Poland tour report has appeared on the band blog, 'The Galahad Diary.'
You can follow the band's Diary here.
Hi GalaFans!
Just a short, but fun, update this time around.
Dean Baker's set up a brand spankin' new Galahad group on Facebook. Look here.
Facebook -- it's the new MySpace ;-)
(By the way, all the band members have individual Facebook pages too. Check 'em out!)
Greetings!
Given the overwhelming response to their special 3-for-2 offer (buy two CDs, get a third CD of equal or lesser value FREE),
Galahad has decided to extend the offer until further notice!
NOTE: This special pricing could end at any time. So now's your chance to complete your collection of Galahad CDs.
How's that for a great way to start the new year?
Happy listening!
Hello Everyone,
Christmas is nearly upon us again and so it is time to reflect on all we have achieved this year.
"Empires Never Last" has been our most successful album to date, winning 2 awards - Best Album and Best Artwork. Thanks to everyone who voted for us.
Empires is already available on iTunes and we hope the rest of our back catalogue will follow shortly.
May saw a return to Tiana, Spain after nearly a decade which was memorable in many ways, not least for being able to watch "Twelfth Night" headline for the first time in a very long time including Stu dueting with Andy Sears on the Geoff Mann penned classic "Love Song".
We quickly unpacked and then were off again to Quebec, courtesy of Michel Bileadou.
Meanwhile, our friends at OSKAR were quietly at work re-mastering our 1993 release "In a Moment of Complete Madness" with additional 'live' racks recorded at Whitchurch, Hampshire in 1992, and "Other Crimes and Misdemeanours 1",
the first of the series and only available previously on cassette in the early 1990s.
Other Crimes 2 and Other Crimes 3 are to follow next year and as is a "Live CD" of our appearance at Rosfest in 2007.
Lately, we have been busy writing again and the ideas and music are flowing thick and fast.
Next year, it looks like we will be doing some dates in Poland again at the beginning of June, with others to follow, hopefully including a clutch in the UK...
A Big Thank You to all who have supported us again this year.
In the spirit of the season, if you want to complete your Galahad Collection, we are offering 3 albums for the price of 2 (cheapest FREE) until the end of January 2009 (except for OC1, all albums are 11.50GBP each inclusive of postage by PayPal to band@galahadonline.com).
See our Merchandise page for ordering instructions.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a safe and successful 2009!
GALAHAD
End of 2008 - Into 2009!
Before we all go into hibernation and stuff ourselves silly over Christmas we have a short update from Gala-land.
Writing on the follow-up to Empires... is fully underway now. We have about 4 new songs written and they are all shaping up to be long ones! We have been discussing the concept of
just concentrating on these 4 to make up the entire next album, but we'll have to see what else we come up with. We'll be aiming to enter
the studio once writing is complete sometime in late spring/early summer 2009.
The postponed gig with Threshold is back in discussion. We will try and get this much anticipated double-header at Mr Kyps in Poole [UK]
back on for early 2009. Apologies to all those that bought tickets. We are trying our best to re-arrange but there are 12 different diaries
that all need to agree here!!(ours, Threshold's and the venue's!).
We are also in talks with our good friends in Poland for another set of dates following the successful and hugely enjoyable ones we did in April 2008.
It's early days in the arrangements but it's likely to be in June 2009; we are looking forward to it already!
So much happening as always, even if it seems a little quiet.
Thanks to everyone who helped and supported us in 2008 and made it another succesful year; the CRS award ceremony, the Polish mini-tour and the gigs
in Spain and Canada.
In case we don't post again this year - have a great Xmas and we'll see you in 2009!
Galahad
Dear All,
We have just received CD copies of Other Crimes & Misdemeanours 1 and the re-mastered version of
In A Moment of Complete Madness, both of which have been put out by our friends in Poland, Oskar Productions.
Other Crimes 1 is the same track listing as the cassette tape that we released back in the early '90s
[see listing here] but has been tidied up and re-mastered for CD.
But, it is effectively an official bootleg release, thus we will sell it for £6.
Madness has been remastered and is now an expanded version including three BONUS TRACKS taken from our Whitchurch Christmas
Lecture tape that was released originally back in 1993 from a recording made at our Christmas gig at Whitchurch Parish hall on
Dec 12th 1992. The BONUS TRACKS are: 1. "The Ghost of Durtal," 2. "Richelieu's Prayer" and 3. "The Knife/One For the Record."
This will sell for £10. See original track listing here.
Please submit orders to band@galahadonline.com. Thanks.
Finally, we are hoping to rearrange the Mr Kyp's date with Threshold and will let everyone one know once we have a new date.
Regards,
Stu
Galahad
Hi All!
Apologies to everyone but the joint gig with Threshold at Mr Kyps (Poole UK) in November has been postponed.
This is due to the venue suffering serious structural problems. Extensive work needs to be carried out on the roof
of the building and it is going to take some time to fix.
Fear not! Galahad, Threshold and Mr Kyps management are deperate to do this gig so rather than cancel it, it will be postponed.
As soon as Kyps is back open for business the gig will be ON!!!!
Thanks for your support and keep checking back for announcements!
Galahad
The latest GalaUpdate:
And now for the good news...
GALAHAD will playing a joint header at Mr Kyps on Sunday 9 November with leading UK Prog metal band THRESHOLD
(featuring Karl Groom on guitar who recorded, engineered and co-produced Empires Never Last) It should be a fantastic
night of original progressive rock/metal music from two of the UK's leading exponents of their respective styles.
Doors will be open at 7.30pm for a prompt 8 o'lock start. Both bands will play for approximately an hour and a quarter,
Galahad will open proceedings.
Tickets will be available from Mr Kyp? direct or via their website (www.mrkyps.net) or from Galahad. Prices are £12 in
advance and £14 on the door on the night.
It would be great to see as many of you as possible as it's rare we get to play in our own back yard and with such good
company in the form of Threshold.
Other developments include Empires Never Last being available for download on iTunes. We are also in the process of
reissuing various old albums via our friends Oskar from Poland, the latest is Two Classic Rock Lives (see Merch page), which features
the original remastered version of Classic Rock Live plus an extra live concert CD of a gig the band played at Mr Smiths
in Bournemouth back in 1985!
Nothing Is Written and Following Ghosts have also recently been re-released.
Other Crimes and Misdemeanours 1 will also be re-released shortly containing extra tracks available on CD for the
first time, more details when we we have more information.
All the albums will be available from Oskar and the band.
Meanwhile, the band are in the process of writing new material for the follow up to Empires Never Last which will
be a hard one to beat as ENL went down so well and is easily the best album, on very level, we have ever recorded, in our humble
opinion at any rate!
Well that's all for now. Enjoy the Summer...if we get one!
All the best,
GALAHAD
This just in from Stuart:
Good news! We are playing in Quebec on Sat 31st May at a concert organised by Michel Bilodeau.
It sounds like a lovely place. Here's the link for all the details.
We are also playing the final Festival of Tiana near Barcelona in Spain on the 24th May.
Not sure on the details but will look for the website. Twelfth Night are headlining so it should be good as
they were one of my fave of the '80s prog bands and of course we covered 'The Ceiling Speaks' and recorded it
for the Geoff Mann tribute album.
January has been a busy month for the guys in Galahad! They won the Classic Rock Society 2007 Album of the Year for Empires, and bassist Lee
Abraham released a pop album. See the News section for more details.
After over a month of transcribing, the long-promised exclusive interview with Stuart has finally been published! Because of its length,
it was published on Bill Murphy's MySpace page. Enjoy!
Still working on the transcription of the Stuart Nicholson interview. It is scheduled to be posted by 15 December.
What's Galahad been up to lately? What does vocalist extraordinaire Stuart Nicholson think of the enormous popularity of Empires Never Last? How about Galahad's recent gigs, including their
incredible performance at RoSfest 2007 in the States? And just how is drummer Spencer Luckman doing after his medical scare last fall?
Find out soon! On Sunday, 21 October, Bill Murphy will conduct an exclusive, in-depth interview
with Galahad frontman Stu Nicholson to be transcribed and posted either here on Galahadonline or on Bill's PurpleCrayon Direct web site.
Be prepared! Everything you've ever wanted to know about Stuart Nicholson and the legendary progressive rock band Galahad will be revealed in mere days!
After a few technical difficulties, the Galahadonline web site has been restored. Webmaster duties will be handled by
Bill Muprhy. Updates to come throughout 2007!
